This is the image used as the background for the Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted patcher.

The original image is the logo for the former name, Horizons: Empire of Istaria. With the game name change, the patcher image needed to be updated, which is what I did.

This is an indexed color image with a 32 color palette. The first step I took was removing the 'Horizons' text from the background. I did this color by color, first blocking out with one color then using a splatter pixelated brush for adding in the other colors back in. I edited the outline of the stone slab to be symmetrical. Besides accomplishing the task of removing the former game name, this also served as a better contrasting background for the patcher text to overlay on.

Next, I edited the text on the yellow banner. I began by removing the text to a plain yellow banner. I used a separate file to lay out and color the new text. I imported it in, which converted it to the color palette. There was some further editing that needed to be done to replace certain colors from the text. To improve the overall contrast and readability, I edited the highlight and shadow of each letter pixel by pixel. Lastly, I improved the outline of the image.

Including revisions, this project took about 8 hours to complete.
