This is an interface I created for an original java web game called Dungeon Crawler 3000. The game involves moving about a dungeon and encountering random and boss monsters. The player has cards, which are used to battle the monsters. The game statistics are displayed in the top section of paper, while text battles are displayed in the main section of paper
I working closely with the game designer and the two programmers. I was provided the dimensions and layout of the interface but given creative freedom for the design. Going with the idea of a dungeon, I wanted the theme of the interface to be very textured, raw and feel like it could be a real object. From there I created the first concept of the interface.
I received some feedback on the interface from my team and was given additional features to create elements for. The controls were redone, I created the compass feature, and expanded the design of the interface - refining and coloring each of the additions.
There were some other artists which made contributions to the game aswell, making creature art, designing the cards and creating the 'in-game' graphics. Nearing the end of the project, I had some issues to tackle to help see the game to completion. I created a version of the compass that contracts into the interface, used during game combat. They also had issues with the perspective of the floors and ceiling art, so I made new graphics of those. A map feature was also added, so I created a scroll background, the player marker and a tileable floor image.
